Brooklyn prosecutors have indicted Ronald Spektor, a 23-year-old from Sheepshead Bay, in a phishing scheme that allegedly stole $16 million from Coinbase users. Authorities say Spektor impersonated a Coinbase rep, tricking victims into sending funds to wallets he controlled. The stolen crypto moved through multiple exchanges, including KuCoin, and online platforms to hide its trail. Coinbase helped law enforcement trace the funds and identify the suspect. About $105,000 in cash and $400,000 in crypto were seized during the investigation.
