Huo Xing Finance reports that on August 21, Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, stated that Broadcom is in discussions with multiple lending institutions regarding a financing deal exceeding $60 billion for AI chips, which would enable AI companies—including Anthropic—to secure chips and other critical AI infrastructure. According to the sources, the financing structure may include approximately $30 billion in subordinate debt and senior secured debt ranging from $60 billion to $70 billion. Broadcom would provide guarantees for a portion of the senior secured debt; if the deal proceeds at the currently discussed scale, the total financing could reach up to $100 billion. Apollo and Blackstone are negotiating with Broadcom to participate in this financing. Under the plan, the related debt may be issued through a special purpose vehicle (SPV), and the transaction could be rolled out in phases, with final size and structure still subject to change. This potential financing continues the established collaboration model among Broadcom, Apollo, and Blackstone for AI infrastructure financing. Previously, the three parties completed a $35 billion financing through the AI XPV platform, in which investors such as Apollo and Blackstone funded the procurement of custom AI chips, which were then leased to Anthropic, while Broadcom provided support for most of the debt, enabling senior debt to achieve investment-grade ratings and lowering financing costs. This partnership ultimately supports the construction of over 20 gigawatts of computing capacity—equivalent to the power output of approximately 20 nuclear power plants—requiring hundreds of billions of dollars in investment. This potential financing further underscores the massive capital demands of AI infrastructure development. Recently, NVIDIA also announced that financial institutions including BlackRock and Goldman Sachs are raising over $500 billion to support the expansion of the AI industry. Broadcom’s CEO previously stated that the company expects AI chip sales to exceed $100 billion by 2027. As Broadcom continues to secure custom AI chip orders from companies such as OpenAI, it is further expanding its competition with NVIDIA in the AI chip and data center infrastructure markets.

Broadcom is seeking more than $60 billion in AI chip financing, with the full transaction potentially reaching $1 trillion. The package may include $300 billion in subordinated debt and $600–$700 billion in senior secured debt, with Apollo and Blackstone involved. The funds will enable AI companies such as Anthropic to purchase chips and infrastructure. This follows a $350 billion AI XPV deal and aims to build 20 gigawatts of computing power. AI and crypto news continues to reflect strong capital inflows, as NVIDIA also announced over $5 trillion in AI funding.
