Brazilian farmers in Paraná secured a $20,000 loan by tokenizing 10 dairy cows on the B3 exchange, a move reported in crypto exchange news. The agtech firm Cowmed used AI-powered Smarty Collar devices to monitor cow health and location, creating encrypted digital identities to prevent fraud. The project could expand to 20% of Cowmed’s 100,000 monitored cows, unlocking up to $77.6 million in credit. Amid rising interest in blockchain solutions, the initiative underscores B3’s role in connecting traditional agriculture with digital finance.

According to Mars Finance, citing CoinDesk, farmers in the state of Paraná, Brazil, secured nearly $20,000 in credit by tokenizing 10 dairy cows as RWA on the B3 stock exchange, in response to local banks tightening lending to small agricultural enterprises. The project, led by Brazilian agtech company Cowmed, equips each cow with an AI-powered Smarty Collar that continuously monitors health, behavior, and location. Raw data is encrypted to generate a unique digital identity linked to a credit agreement with B3. Continuous tracking prevents the same cow from being pledged multiple times and allows for replacement with other live cows in the event of death. Cowmed currently monitors approximately 100,000 dairy cows with a total asset value exceeding $395 million. The company expects up to 20% of its network to adopt this financing model, potentially unlocking around $77.6 million in agricultural credit.
