According to ME News, on September 4 (UTC+8), data from Brazil’s Central Bank (BCB) showed that cryptocurrency purchases in July amounted to $572 million, a nearly 80% decline from $2.6 billion in June and nearly a 60% drop from $1.4 billion in July 2025. Fernando Rocha, head of the BCB’s statistical department, stated that these changes reflect cryptocurrency exchanges adapting to a new regulatory environment for digital assets, with enhanced anti-money laundering controls and governance requirements being key factors in the reduced transaction volume. Since the beginning of 2026, cumulative cryptocurrency purchases in Brazil have reached $15.25 billion, more than doubling the $7.6 billion recorded during the same period in 2025. The BCB noted that most of these transactions involve stablecoins. (Source: ChainCatcher)

Liquidity and crypto markets in Brazil saw a sharp decline in July, with crypto purchases dropping to $572 million—an 80% decrease from June’s $2.6 billion. Fernando Rocha of Brazil’s Central Bank (BCB) attributed the drop to exchanges adapting to stricter AML and governance regulations. MiCA (EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation) is likely driving global compliance shifts. July’s total was also 60% lower than the $1.4 billion recorded in July 2025. Stablecoins accounted for the majority of transactions. Year-to-date purchases reached $15.25 billion, up from $7.6 billion during the same period in 2025.
