This update means Bluesky’s video capabilities are now extending to longer-form content, bringing its product closer to mainstream short-form video and social platforms. For creators looking to post full tutorials, podcast clips, or other longer native content, the barrier to entry has been lowered.

On the other hand, X still imposes limits on video upload duration for free users, but has extended upload lengths for paid users, increased the file size limit to 16 GB, and introduced new video editing tools to encourage video consumption and original content creation on the platform.
Under these circumstances, Bluesky has expanded its video upload capabilities, with one clear goal being to enhance platform appeal and attract more creators and active users.
