Bluesky unveiled an AI + crypto news update to its Attie platform at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 on October 16, 2026. The new version lets users build websites, games, and interactive content without developers. Built on the AT Protocol, it supports decentralized apps on the Atmosphere network. Users can now deploy their own AI models or use open-weight options. The platform suggests projects based on public Bluesky profiles. CEO Toni Schneider said Attie focuses on group-based social experiences. Private data support is in alpha and expected by year-end. On-chain news shows growing interest in decentralized creation tools.

Bluesky announced an expansion of its AI-powered Attie platform at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 on Thursday. The new capabilities allow everyday users to create websites, quizzes, games, polls and other interactive experiences previously requiring software developers. Attie initially offered AI-powered tools for building custom social feeds.

The user-created experiences will run on the AT Protocol, also called atproto. The protocol powers Bluesky and other decentralized social apps within the decentralized social web known as the Atmosphere. Creators using Attie are connected to their atproto identity. Attie will also suggest projects based on users' public Bluesky profiles.

Bluesky COO Rose Wang said users can bring their own AI model or use open-weight options to build with Attie. Wang said the resulting sites and games can reach Bluesky's wider audience. Wang argued that Attie's access to Bluesky's distribution addresses the difficulty creators face in finding users for new projects. Bluesky has 47 million registered users. However, engagement has declined as some users who tried Bluesky later returned to X.

Bluesky CEO Toni Schneider said Attie's new capabilities support building together or creating social experiences for groups and communities. Schneider contrasted that approach with the largely single-user experience of current AI-assisted software creation. Schneider said Attie should enable many small social experiences for friends rather than requiring everyone to communicate with the entire world.

Attie serves as a testing platform for Bluesky's AI-powered ideas. The platform also supports Bluesky's broader plans to revive network activity by focusing on developers and communities in the months ahead. Forthcoming support for private data on the protocol will strengthen those efforts. Schneider said private-data support has been developers' biggest request. Schneider said private data is now in alpha testing, with a rollout planned by the end of the year.

Schneider is taking charge of Bluesky after previously leading the company on an interim basis. Former CEO Jay Graber stepped down in March to become Bluesky's chief innovation officer. Schneider is a former CEO of Automattic and a partner at True Ventures.
