After completing the CEO transition, Bluesky announced it has secured $100 million in Series B funding. The company did not disclose its latest valuation but stated that the new capital will be used to expand the team and advance the development of the Bluesky app and the underlying AT Protocol.
Investor lineup expands
This funding round involved multiple institutions, including existing investors Alumni Ventures and True Ventures, as well as Anthos Capital, Bloomberg Beta, and the Knight Foundation. Bluesky’s previous round was a $15 million Series A round completed in 2024, preceded by an $8 million seed round.
User base continues to grow
The company stated that since its Series A round, Bluesky’s global user base has grown from 13 million to over 43 million. The application ecosystem built on the AT Protocol is also expanding, including startup projects like Skylight and Flashes, as well as Surf, an open social app under Flipboard.
Expansion of the open social ecosystem
Bluesky also noted that new communities are emerging around the protocol, such as Blacksky, which is designed for Black users. The company stated that the Atmosphere ecosystem currently contains approximately 20 billion public records, including posts, likes, comments, and other interaction data.
