Odaily Planet Daily reports: Eric Balchunas, Senior ETF Analyst at Bloomberg, posted on X that since the Coldcard wallet security incident this past weekend, multiple Bitcoin ETFs—including the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB), ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB), and ProShares Bitcoin ETF (BITO)—have recorded continuous inflows over several trading days, with a cumulative net inflow of approximately $620 million.
Analysts say it is currently unclear whether the Coldcard incident is directly linked to ETF fund inflows, but over the long term, some users may shift toward Bitcoin investment products managed by large financial institutions due to concerns about self-custody security.
This inflow of funds is also seen as a validation of the security and custody capabilities of traditional finance (TradFi) Bitcoin products. Market participants note that for some investors, choosing an ETF with a mature risk management system and institutional custody may be more appealing than relying on smaller wallet providers to safeguard assets independently.
This perspective holds that as the Bitcoin market becomes increasingly institutionalized, secure custody, asset recovery mechanisms, and compliance safeguards are emerging as key factors influencing investors' choices of investment channels. The competitive advantages of traditional financial institutions in the digital assets space are becoming even more pronounced.
