ChainCatcher report: Bitcoin infrastructure company Blockstream has announced the launch of consulting services for financial institutions and established an office in Lugano, Switzerland. This service enables banks, asset managers, and other institutions to directly engage with Blockstream’s engineering team and Bitcoin infrastructure. Blockstream Consulting Services will assist organizations in evaluating, designing, and implementing Bitcoin-based financial infrastructure, while developing solutions such as tokenized asset issuance and confidential settlement, covering technical strategy, system architecture, integration, and deployment. Blockstream stated that the Lugano office will serve clients across Switzerland—including Zurich, Geneva, and Zug—and serve as its European hub to support client relations, strategic partnerships, and collaboration with the local financial and technology communities. Chief Marketing Officer Peter Bain said Switzerland’s long-standing banking tradition and supportive regulatory framework for digital assets make it a key market for Blockstream; the company aims to provide localized expertise in markets where it sees demand for Bitcoin infrastructure, and the consulting business and Lugano office will deliver tailored Bitcoin solutions to European financial institutions. Founded in 2014, Blockstream operates across Bitcoin custody, settlement, payments, asset issuance, and self-custody, with products including the Liquid sidechain, Elements, Simplicity, Core Lightning, Jade hardware wallet, and the Blockstream App. The company has deployed Simplicity smart contracts on the Liquid network and added Lightning Network support to the Jade hardware wallet. Co-founder and CEO Adam Back said the next phase of Bitcoin adoption involves integration into existing financial systems, and the company’s expertise in Bitcoin cryptography, protocol development, and engineering enables it to address these complexities. The announcement did not disclose pricing for the consulting services, the size of the Lugano office team, or client names.
