In accordance with TheCCPress, Block, formerly Square, has launched a Bitcoin payment integration, enabling over 4 million merchants to accept Bitcoin through Square terminals. The integration, supported by the Lightning Network, allows merchants to receive payments in BTC or fiat with no processing fees until 2027. Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Block, emphasized the initiative's potential to increase Bitcoin's utility and adoption, with merchants able to convert between BTC and fiat seamlessly. The move aims to boost on-chain and off-chain Bitcoin activity and could influence broader cryptocurrency integration in retail transactions.
