ETF inflows for BlackRock’s IBIT have surged as the fund now holds over 765,000 bitcoin, valued at approximately $60 billion. Robbie Mitchnick, BlackRock’s Head of Digital Assets, said the fund will continue to grow. The firm lowered the minimum exchange threshold from $25 million to $1 million, enabling investors to directly swap bitcoin for shares. Bitcoin rose above $80,000, up 20% in a week. U.S. bitcoin spot ETFs recorded their strongest inflows in nearly 10 months. Real-world risks such as ransomware are driving more investors toward ETFs.

ChainThink reports that on August 26, according to Forbes, Robbie Mitchnick, Head of Digital Assets at BlackRock, stated that the size of its spot Bitcoin ETF, IBIT, "will continue to grow." The ETF currently holds over 765,000 bitcoins on behalf of investors, valued at approximately $60 billion.

BlackRock has reduced the minimum size for investors to exchange Bitcoin directly for IBIT shares from $25 million to $1 million.

This mechanism allows eligible investors to directly convert their Bitcoin holdings into ETF shares without first selling them on the market, potentially avoiding capital gains taxes. Since its launch, IBIT has become one of the fastest-growing ETFs.

Bitcoin recently broke through $80,000, rising approximately 20% over the week and marking its first breach of this level since May. Thirteen U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded their strongest weekly inflows in nearly 10 months.

Mitchnick noted that real-world risks such as kidnapping, extortion, and custody failures are driving some holders to shift their self-custodied assets into ETFs.
