Derived from 528btc, BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), launched in January 2024, has become the firm's most profitable product, with net assets reaching $70.7 billion by October 2025. The fund's success is attributed to BlackRock's global distribution network, demand for regulated crypto investments, and the U.S. SEC's approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF in early 2024. Harvard University's endowment fund also increased its investment in IBIT by $443 million by September 2025. Regulatory developments, including the U.S. GENIUS Act in July 2025 and the EU's MiCA framework in June 2024, have further legitimized Bitcoin as an institutional asset. According to PowerDrill, 86% of institutional investors have invested in or plan to allocate funds to digital assets in 2025, with 68% targeting Bitcoin ETPs.
