Black Forest Labs launched FLUX 3, a multimodal AI model that generates 20-second video clips with synchronized audio, processes images, and predicts robotic actions. The model uses a 'Self-Flow' approach and outperformed Runway Gen-4.5 in 77% of benchmarks. Early access began July 23. The firm also partnered with mimic robotics for Audi’s production lines and raised $300 million in a Series B round, valuing it at $3.25 billion. Black Forest Labs just dropped FLUX 3, a multimodal AI model that can generate 20-second video clips with synchronized audio, process images, and predict actions for robotics.

The model launched with early access on July 23, representing BFL’s first truly integrated foundation model. FLUX 3 operates across images, video, audio, and physical action prediction within a single architecture.

What FLUX 3 actually does

The headline feature is text-to-video generation that produces clips up to 20 seconds long, complete with native audio that stays in sync with the visuals. That means dialogue, sound effects, and ambient noise all align with what’s happening on screen, rather than requiring separate audio generation and manual stitching.

BFL calls the underlying technology its “Self-Flow” approach, which enables aligned understanding and generation of multimodal data within one unified system.

Early evaluations suggest the model is performing well against its peers. FLUX 3 was preferred over competing models like Runway Gen-4.5 in 77% of comparisons, according to initial benchmarks.

The phased rollout plan promises to expand access across Video/Audio, Image, and Action functionalities over time, with open-weight developer versions on the roadmap.

From pixels to production lines

BFL has been collaborating with mimic robotics to develop FLUX-mimic, a variant of the model that’s already being deployed on Audi’s production lines. The system handles complex tasks like dexterous manipulation of materials, including insertion and handling of soft materials, which are notoriously difficult for traditional robotic systems.

BFL’s trajectory and what it means for investors

FLUX 3 follows a rapid development cadence. FLUX 1 arrived in August 2024, FLUX 2 landed in November 2025, and now FLUX 3 is here roughly eight months later.

The financial backing matches the ambition. BFL’s Series B funding round pulled in $300 million, valuing the company at $3.25 billion.

One detail worth noting: BFL has not associated any crypto tokens or digital assets with the FLUX product line. Despite the name’s resemblance to certain crypto projects, this is purely an AI company funded through traditional venture capital.
