Odaily Planet Daily reports that Bits of Gold, Israel’s largest compliant crypto broker, has suffered a data breach in which personal information of approximately 200,000 customers was stolen by hackers, putting all platform users at risk. The company received Israel’s first Virtual Asset Service Provider license in September 2022 and was approved in April 2026 to issue the BILS stablecoin, pegged 1:1 to the shekel. The types of data compromised have not yet been disclosed, but crypto brokers typically collect sensitive information such as government-issued IDs, proof of address, and financial records in compliance with KYC regulations. While cold wallets can secure digital assets, they cannot protect customer identity documents stored on servers. Historical cases show that similar data breaches are often used for phishing, SIM swapping, and targeted social engineering attacks, meaning the security risk extends far beyond the platform itself.
