ChainCatcher report, according to Decrypt, recent records from the UK Electoral Commission show that Ben Delo, co-founder of BitMEX, made two donations to the Reform UK party this April, totaling £4 million (approximately $5.4 million), bringing his total donations to the party this year to £8 million (approximately $10.8 million)—second only to Christopher Harborne, equity investor in Tether, who has donated a cumulative £15 million (approximately $20.25 million). These two donations accounted for 75% of the party’s total contributions for the corresponding quarter and were the two largest single donations received by any UK political party during that quarter. The UK banned political donations in cryptocurrency as of March, so all contributions were made in cash. It is reported that in April, Ben Delo, co-founder of BitMEX, disclosed that he had donated $5.4 million (approximately £4 million) to Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, prior to the implementation of a new rule capping donations from overseas residents at £100,000.
