Bitcoin surged past $84K on September 27, 2026, as the fear and greed index showed mixed signals amid 5.12% 10-year Treasury yields and Fed news of a hawkish stance. The price hit $87K on September 23, despite inflation worries and rate hike expectations. CoinShares noted the yield reached a 2007 high, while the CLARITY Act stalled in the Senate. Digital-asset funds saw $3.5B inflows over five days, fueling Bitcoin’s rise.

Bitcoin [BTC] was trading at $84,160.55 at press time after peaking to a height of $86K a few days ago. This rally caught everyone’s attention as it happened despite conditions that would normally be negative for risk assets.

In other words, Bitcoin did not rise because the macroeconomic environment suddenly became easy. The leading cryptocurrency rose while interest rate expectations, treasury yields, and inflation concerns were still creating pressure.

Concerning the macroeconomic picture

Given the case in point, the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield climbed to around 5.12% on the 23rd of September, while Bitcoin simultaneously moved above $87,000.

According to the CoinShares report, with this percentage, the 10-year yield reached its highest level since 2007. Meanwhile, the Fed’s hawkish stance, persistent inflation concerns, and stronger September PMI data further raised expectations of another rate hike, creating a potential headwind for Bitcoin.

At the same time, Brent crude fell below $100, potentially easing inflation pressure, although oil remains elevated. Adding fuel to the fire, the CLARITY Act too failed to advance in the Senate on the 15th of September after a 49–50 cloture vote.

However, the SEC and CFTC’s March 2026 framework’s recent FAQs have provided further clarity on the regulatory framework despite the legislation’s setback.

What’s ahead for Bitcoin?

Yet, despite these weak macroeconomic conditions, Bitcoin recovered from roughly $75,000, moved above $87,000 on the 23rd of September, and then settled around $84,000 at press time. In fact, Bitcoin reached an eight-month high above $86,000 during this move.

At the same time, around $3.5 billion flowed into digital-asset investment products over five trading days, supporting Bitcoin’s rally.

In this, BlackRock accounted for roughly half of the inflows, while the rebound also recovered much of the ETFs’ previous cumulative outflows. Therefore, the next major test could be whether Bitcoin can sustain a weekly close above $82,000.

Final Summary

  • The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield climbed to around 5.12% while Bitcoin simultaneously moved above $87,000.
  • Around $3.5 billion flowed into digital-asset investment products over five trading days, pushing Bitcoin’s rally.
