Bitcoin news shows the cryptocurrency rising 22% since August 17, while mining stocks have lagged. Only one of 11 major firms outperformed, with a median gain of 1.8%. Core Scientific and Terawulf declined 27% and 24%, respectively, compared to Bitcoin. Some companies are shifting toward AI and HPC to stabilize earnings, but this has diminished their focus on Bitcoin mining. This dual strategy may provide balance over time, with Bitcoin gains during bull markets and AI supporting performance during downturns.

BlockBeats news, on September 10, since August 17, Bitcoin's price has risen approximately 22%, with cryptocurrency exchanges and stablecoin-related stocks rising in tandem, but Bitcoin mining companies have clearly lagged behind.

Among the 11 Bitcoin mining companies and related firms analyzed, only Canaan outperformed BTC, while the other 10 underperformed Bitcoin, with a median gain of just 1.8% during the period.

Among them, Core Scientific and Terawulf performed the worst, lagging behind Bitcoin by 27% and 24%, respectively.

Analysis indicates that some mining companies have shifted toward high-performance computing (HPC) and AI data center operations in recent years. While this transition has helped support stock prices during the crypto bear market, it has also diverted attention from Bitcoin mining and introduced additional operational risks.

However, the dual focus on AI data centers and Bitcoin mining could also become a long-term advantage for mining companies: mining operations benefit during bull markets, while AI data centers can improve the company’s balance sheet during periods of crypto market downturns.
