Bitcoin trades just below $83,000 after bouncing from the $80,000 area. Crypto markets rebounded nearly 2% on Tuesday, reaching a total market capitalization of $2.8 trillion. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index reads 51 on a 0-to-100 scale, indicating neutral sentiment between fear and greed. The index registered 49 yesterday.
Brent crude oil trades near $110 a barrel amid attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Expensive oil feeds inflation by raising fuel and goods costs. Higher inflation increases the odds that the Federal Reserve keeps interest rates high or raises rates again, pushing Treasury yields above 5%. Higher yields draw money away from risk assets such as crypto. The Federal Reserve next meets on October 27 and 28.
Bitcoin bounced where the 50-day exponential moving average and support from the most recent bullish movement converge. The 50-day exponential moving average, or EMA50, gives greater weight to recent prices and stands at $80,702.8. The 200-day exponential moving average, or EMA200, measures the long-term trend and stands at $76,123.1. Bitcoin's price remains above both averages, and the EMA50 remains above the EMA200, maintaining a bullish trend structure.
The Relative Strength Index, or RSI, measures the speed of price movements on a 0-to-100 scale and reads 53.34. RSI readings above 70 suggest overbought conditions, while readings below 30 suggest oversold conditions. The current RSI indicates neutral and slightly positive momentum, leaving room for price movement in either direction.
Bitcoin faces its nearest resistance at $87,371. Bitcoin needs a daily close above $87,371 to confirm that the bounce is developing into another upward move. The first support level is $80,433, close to the EMA50 at approximately $80,703. The next support level is $76,140, almost exactly aligned with the EMA200 at approximately $76,123. Lower support levels are $72,671, $69,202, $64,263 and $57,972.
In the bullish scenario, Bitcoin breaks above $87,371 with rising momentum. The RSI would move toward the 60s, and Bitcoin would have room to rise before encountering another chart obstacle. In the base scenario, Bitcoin trades between $80,433 and $87,371. The RSI would remain near 50, and the EMA50 would provide support while resistance limits rallies. In the bearish scenario, a daily close below $80,433 would break the EMA50 and nearby support. That break would open a possible decline toward $76,140, where the EMA200 provides the next test. A close below $76,140 would shift attention to $72,671.
