Bitcoin price today shows onchain signs of a potential local bottom, with hopes for a strong October rebound. As of October 14, 2026, Bitcoin exchange reserves dropped 1.7% to 2.68 million BTC, while apparent demand nears a positive shift for the second time this year. Whale activity and ETF inflows remain key factors in Bitcoin price prediction, according to XWIN Research Japan. Despite rising oil prices and high US bond yields, conditions are improving for a sustained recovery.

Bitcoin onchain data suggests a potential local price bottom, keeping hopes for a traditionally strong October performance alive. Analysis published on CryptoQuant on Monday described onchain conditions as showing cautious optimism. CryptoQuant contributor XWIN Research Japan said signs of a potential bottom were emerging. Bitcoin exchange reserves, apparent demand and whale holdings gave XWIN reasons to believe October's local low may have already occurred.

Bitcoin supply on exchanges fell from 2.726 million BTC on September 20 to 2.68 million BTC as of Tuesday, a decrease of 1.7%. Exchange reserves nevertheless increased modestly over the past week. Large-volume investors, known as whales, continued to hold more than 3 million BTC collectively. Whales avoided selling as BTC/USD dropped from $87,000 on October 2 to near $80,000 on October 8.

Apparent demand compares newly mined BTC with changes in dormant supply. Apparent demand remained supportive overall and approached a transition to positive readings for the second time in 2026. The metric was negative throughout 2026 except for a brief period of positive 30-day readings in the second half of August. Demand turned negative again after that period but recovered to near-neutral levels this week.

Bitcoin faces macroeconomic and geopolitical headwinds, including 24-year highs in US bond yields, rising oil prices and cooling capital inflows to exchange-traded products. These conditions have dampened optimism about a strong October performance. Conditions since the start of October have increasingly favored crypto and other risk assets. XWIN pointed to cooling expectations of Federal Reserve interest-rate hikes into 2027 as improving the prospects for inflows. Markets also expect greater clarity about US domestic politics after the approaching midterm elections. XWIN said less political uncertainty after the vote could help investors reassess allocations.

XWIN said conditions for a bottom were improving. XWIN said confirmation requires sustained ETF inflows, stronger US spot buying and continued demand recovery. XWIN argued that a strong October need not involve uninterrupted gains because a correction can establish conditions for the next advance.

Crypto asset manager Bitwise said this week that third-quarter onchain data pointed to a renewed crypto expansion after historically significant performance. CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju announced in late August what Ki saw as the start of a new crypto bull market. Ki called the bear market over.
