ChainCatcher report: Bitcoin Group SE, operator of a crypto asset platform, stated that Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) has denied its subsidiary futurum bank AG’s application for a crypto asset service provider license under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). The company is evaluating alternative operating models and seeking to restore Bitcoin.de trading as soon as possible through regulated partners. Moritz Eckert, CEO of Bitcoin Group SE, said the company had anticipated the rejection and is currently reviewing the decision, with options to file an objection or resubmit the application in the future. Bitcoin.de, operated by futurum bank AG, is a German crypto trading platform with over 1.1 million registered users. Originally a peer-to-peer marketplace, Bitcoin.de transitioned to a broker model this year, planning to offer more than 100 cryptocurrencies, crypto asset exchanges, and staking services. The platform had intended to launch the new model by the end of June, but trading was largely suspended as of June 12 due to delays in obtaining MiCA authorization.
