Bitcoin ETFs recorded $6.34 billion in ETF inflows during Q3 2026, the strongest quarterly inflows of the year, according to CoinPaper. This follows $5 billion in net outflows in Q2. Ethereum ETFs gathered $3.05 billion and XRP ETFs pulled in $308 million. Bitcoin rose nearly 43% during the quarter, hitting over $86,000 in September.

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) attracted approximately $6.34 billion in net inflows during the third quarter. This makes it their strongest quarter of 2026.

The quarterly total is a major turnaround from Q2, when the funds recorded roughly $5 billion in net outflows. September contributed $2.65 billion in net inflows, following $3.52 billion in August and $172 million in July.

The resurgence in ETF demand also coincided with one of Bitcoin’s strongest quarters in years.

Bitcoin surges nearly 43% in three months

Bitcoin gained 42.71% during Q3, and delivered its strongest quarterly performance since Q4 2024. It was also its best third-quarter return since 2017.

BTC entered July near $58,500 before climbing above $80,000 during August and reaching above $86,000 during September.

The rally was not evenly distributed across the quarter. Bitcoin gained about 7.4% in July, surged almost 25% in August and added another 6.3% in September. That left BTC around $83,600 at the end of September.

The final ETF session of the quarter nevertheless showed that demand is still volatile. Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $149 million in net outflows on Wednesday, which ended a nine-day inflow streak that attracted roughly $3.1 billion.

Crypto ETF demand spreads beyond Bitcoin

Bitcoin was not the only cryptocurrency to benefit from renewed ETF demand. US spot Ethereum ETFs attracted approximately $3.05 billion during Q3, which reversed around $714 million in Q2 outflows. Ethereum also outperformed Bitcoin during the quarter after gaining roughly 56%.

Demand also extended further into the altcoin market. XRP ETFs recorded approximately $308 million in Q3 inflows, which lifted their cumulative total to $1.79 billion.

The combination of stronger ETF flows and Bitcoin’s nearly 43% quarterly rebound suggests institutional demand returned meaningfully during Q3 after a difficult first half of 2026. The question entering Q4 is whether those flows can remain strong.
