BlockBeats news, on June 8, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs reported a net outflow of $1.72 billion last week, marking the largest weekly net outflow since February 2025. BlackRock’s IBIT, the Bitcoin ETF with the largest net assets, recorded a $1.34 billion outflow last week—the largest weekly net outflow since its launch in January 2024. Overall, ETFs continued the negative outflow trend seen since May, with May ending in a monthly net outflow of $2.43 billion.
Andri Fauzan Adziima, Head of Research at Bitrue Institute, stated that the primary driver behind last week’s ETF outflows was macroeconomic headlines, particularly recent U.S. employment data. The strong (non-farm payrolls) report for May 2026 reinforced the resilience of the labor market, reduced the likelihood of near-term Fed rate cuts, and pushed up U.S. Treasury yields, making yield-bearing bonds significantly more attractive than yield-less Bitcoin.
Amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty, recent trading days have seen widespread risk-off sentiment, impacting not only the digital asset market but also other sectors such as artificial intelligence, technology stocks, and gold. Capital outflow pressure is expected to persist into early June, but it should stabilize or turn slightly positive by mid-to-late June, as panic sentiment bottoms out, seasonal factors in June provide support, and any macroeconomic relief could trigger capital inflows.
