Bitcoin price today rose from the mid-70s to the mid-80s, but ETF demand growth turned negative last week, per CryptoQuant. The 30-day holdings show ETFs are still net buyers, but the pace has slowed. IBIT leads with 60.84% of 1.2967M BTC in spot ETFs, followed by FBTC and GBTC. Traders are watching the next few days for signs of a rebound or a deeper pullback. Bitcoin price prediction models will need to adjust if this trend continues.
Spot ETF demand growth over 30 days is still positive. What changed is the direction. Last week the line turned down off its local high, and it did that while price was pushing from the mid-70s into the mid-80s. The metric measures the 30-day change in how many bitcoin the spot ETFs hold. Above zero the funds added coins on net over the last month. Below zero they gave coins back. Two different things live inside that reading, and it pays to separate them. The level tells you the ETFs are still net buyers right now. The rate of change tells you how fast that is happening, and that part just went negative. Across the series since 2024, these two lines mostly traveled together. Demand growth expanded through the advances and went deeply negative into every real drawdown. Price rising while demand growth rolls over is the uncommon configuration, and it is the one on the screen today. This matters because ETF demand has been the structural support under most of this cycle's advances. That support is not gone. It is starting to fade, and one week of a negative rate of change is not a regime, it is a warning that needs the next few days to confirm or cancel. If flows come back and the line turns up again, this was a breather inside a healthy move. The concentration is worth holding onto while you watch it. Of the 1.2967M BTC held across spot ETFs, IBIT alone holds 789,034, or 60.84% of the total. FBTC follows at 177,268 and 13.67%, GBTC at 127,774 and 9.85%. Three funds carry more than 84% of the complex, so the recovery of this line depends on very few desks. If demand growth turns back up within the next few days, this was a pause and the advance keeps its support. If it keeps rolling toward zero, price is climbing without the buyer that got it here.
