ME News reports that, on September 17 (UTC+8), the latest edition of Glassnode’s “The Week Onchain” report revealed that publicly traded companies added only approximately 5,900 BTC in 2026—less than 7% of the 89,000 BTC purchased in a single month in July 2025. Corporate treasuries are currently in an unrealized loss position, with an average cost basis of $80,500, about 6% higher than the current spot price. Glassnode noted that Bitcoin’s price has failed twice in 2026 to reclaim this cost level, stating, “Buyers who have stopped purchasing and are holding unrealized losses cannot provide support; only a reclamation of $80,500 would restore profitability to corporate treasuries and eliminate a layer of upward supply pressure.” Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve implemented its first interest rate hike since July 2023 on Wednesday, potentially initiating a policy tightening cycle that pressures liquidity in the crypto market. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced a net outflow of $462.7 million over the five trading days ending September 11, reversing a three-week trend of net inflows. Bitcoin’s realized market cap began declining on September 15 and is currently around $1.069 trillion, indicating a lack of new buying pressure. Business intelligence firm Strategy, which holds the largest Bitcoin treasury, completed its most recent purchase at the end of August, acquiring 4,603 BTC at a cost basis of $75,412 for its total holding of 845,050 BTC.
