Citing Jinse, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has appointed Tommaso Mancini-Griffoli, a leading global digital currency economist, as the next head of its Innovation Hub, effective March 2026. Mancini-Griffoli, currently Deputy Director of the IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department, will lead central banks in exploring innovative technological solutions, including CBDCs, tokenized assets, and new market infrastructure. The appointment comes as the BIS Innovation Hub accelerates major projects and expands its global influence, particularly in testing blockchain-based settlement systems and digital currency prototypes.
