Big Tech is fueling a bullish trend in US corporate bond sales as AI spending accelerates. Six major firms have raised $244 billion in bonds globally through mid-2026. Nvidia and Amazon each secured $25 billion in June and July 2026. The surge is pushing the fear and greed index higher, with 2026 investment-grade bond issuance expected to hit $2.46 trillion, up 11.8% from 2025.

Six of the biggest names in tech have collectively issued roughly $244 billion in bonds globally through mid-July 2026. To put the acceleration in perspective, five major AI hyperscalers issued $121 billion in US corporate bonds across all of 2025. That already vastly exceeded the $28 billion annual average they posted between 2020 and 2024. Now, barely halfway through 2026, six firms have more than doubled that number.

Who is selling, and how much

Nvidia executed a $25 billion bond sale in June 2026, one of the largest single corporate debt offerings in recent memory. Amazon followed with a multi-tranche offering targeting at least $25 billion in July 2026.

The roster of hyperscalers driving this trend includes Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta, Oracle, and Nvidia. Each is spending aggressively on data centers, custom AI chips, and the power infrastructure required to run models that are increasingly expensive to train and operate.

According to Bank of America, the non-dollar share of hyperscaler bond issuance doubled to 30% by 2026. These companies are now selling bonds denominated in euros, sterling, yen, Swiss francs, and Canadian dollars, setting records in each of those markets.

What this means for the broader bond market

Analysts project total US investment-grade bond issuance will reach $2.46 trillion in 2026, up 11.8% from 2025. AI-related capital expenditure is identified as a primary driver of that increase.

Credit spreads for hyperscaler bonds have widened as supply has surged. This is not a crisis signal. Investment-grade spreads widening modestly in response to supply is a normal market function. But the scale of issuance is testing absorption capacity in ways the market has not seen from the tech sector before.

What investors should watch

For fixed-income investors, the hyperscaler bond wave creates both opportunity and concentration risk. The sheer volume of supply means these names now represent a larger share of investment-grade indices, increasing passive exposure for any fund benchmarked to those indices.

Active managers will need to make explicit decisions about how much hyperscaler credit exposure they want relative to the benchmark. Passive investors will get it by default.

As hyperscalers tap euro and yen markets directly, hedging dynamics shift, with ripple effects across rate and currency markets that extend well beyond the tech sector.
