Base’s B20 tokens hit over $1.051 billion in DEX volume in two months since their June 25, 2026, launch, according to on-chain news from CryptoBriefing. Memecoin launchpads accounted for 83.7% of the past 30 days’ volume. Tokenized stock tokens from Coinbase added $227.7 million in DEX volume in their first month. The B20 standard, part of Base’s blockchain upgrade, uses native precompiles to streamline compliant token issuance.

Base’s new token standard just crossed a milestone that took some entire blockchains years to reach. B20 tokens, the native token format introduced during Base’s Beryl upgrade, have now surpassed $1 billion in cumulative decentralized exchange trading volume, according to Dune Analytics data.

The exact figure sits at approximately $1.051 billion, achieved in roughly two months since the standard’s launch on June 25, 2026.

Memecoins did the heavy lifting

Roughly 83.7% of B20 DEX volume over a recent 30-day span came from memecoin launchpads. So for every dollar of “serious” trading activity, about four dollars were people gambling on dog-themed tokens and their various cousins.

The first B20 trades appeared around July 8, 2026, roughly two weeks after the Beryl upgrade went live. By late July, the ecosystem had already spawned over 19,000 unique tokens and attracted approximately 180,000 holders. That first trading day alone saw about $207 million in volume.

Primary trading venues for B20 tokens include Aerodrome and Uniswap, both of which have established deep liquidity pools on Base.

Tokenized stocks add a different flavor

Coinbase launched tokenized stock tokens conforming to the B20 standard on August 24, 2026, and those offerings generated $227.7 million in DEX trading volume within their first 30 days.

The B20 standard itself was designed to make compliant token issuance simpler through native precompiles, which are essentially built-in smart contract functions baked directly into the network’s architecture, shifting token creation from traditional smart contracts to native Rust precompiles and allowing for role-based access control, supply caps, and transaction policies without losing ERC-20 compatibility.

What $1B in two months actually means

The split between memecoin volume and tokenized equity volume is worth watching closely. If the ratio stays at roughly 84% memecoins, the sustainability of this growth becomes questionable. But if tokenized equities and other compliant asset types continue growing their share, B20 could represent something more durable. A $227.7 million first month for tokenized stocks represents genuine product-market fit for an asset class that has historically struggled to find traction on-chain.
