Based on ChainCatcher, Bank of China has completed the first cross-border digital currency QR payment in Laos. Under the guidance of the People's Bank of China and the Lao central bank, Bank of China's Vientiane branch became the first to connect to the PBOC's digital RMB cross-border payment platform. The bank provided real-time exchange rate quotes and efficient clearing services to validate production-level QR payments for local merchants. This service will significantly lower cross-border settlement barriers between China and Laos, allowing Chinese tourists to pay directly in digital RMB via app without currency exchange, while Lao merchants can receive funds automatically without modifying their existing equipment.
