ChainCatcher reports that graphics card manufacturers such as ASUS and Gigabyte plan to raise prices in the Chinese mainland market again in September, with increases of up to RMB 500 (approximately TWD 2,300). The price hikes are expected to boost earnings for ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, Palit, and XFX. According to China-based media IT Home, ASUS will raise the net cost price of its NVIDIA RTX 5070 series by RMB 150 to 300 in September, while prices for other series remain unchanged. Gigabyte will increase prices by RMB 200 across all models of its NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti 16G series, with other models unaffected. AMD’s RX 9070 XT series will see a RMB 200 price increase; the RX 9060 XT 16G/8G series will rise by RMB 200 to 250; and the RX 7650 GRE series will increase by RMB 400. The report attributes the price hikes primarily to memory shortages, as production capacity shifts toward AI-focused GPUs. NVIDIA has again lowered its overall consumer GPU shipment forecast for Q3 by 15% to 20%. September shipment volumes for all brands are expected to remain similar to August levels, with continued supply constraints. High-end models such as the NVIDIA RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti remain among the most scarce. This marks another price increase by NVIDIA in 2024, following multiple adjustments earlier this year.
