ASML now expects 2026 net sales of €44 billion to €45 billion ($49.3 billion to $50.4 billion). ASML previously expected €43 billion to €45 billion ($48.2 billion to $50.4 billion). The lower end rose by €1 billion ($1.1 billion). The upper end remained unchanged, narrowing the official guidance range rather than lowering the euro-denominated ceiling.
Third-quarter net sales reached €11.66 billion ($13.1 billion). Gross margin climbed to 57.5%. Net income rose to €4.96 billion ($5.6 billion). ASML sold 113 new lithography systems, up from 86 in the second quarter. Revenue came in slightly below some analyst expectations. However, profitability exceeded forecasts.
ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet said customers are increasing near- and medium-term equipment forecasts, primarily because of expectations for the scale and duration of AI investment. Some customers are already expressing interest in placing orders for 2029 and 2030. ASML now expects currently planned supply for both 2027 and 2028 to fall short of customer demand. ASML is exploring ways to expand 2028 capacity beyond the previously communicated 30% increase.
Demand extending years into the future supports ASML's long-term growth case. However, demand alone does not guarantee immediate revenue. ASML must manufacture, deliver and install highly complex equipment while scaling production without sacrificing execution or margins. The capacity shortfall explains why additional demand may take time to generate earnings.
ASML expects fourth-quarter sales of €14.2 billion to €15.2 billion ($15.9 billion to $17.0 billion). ASML expects fourth-quarter gross margin of around 57%. ASML's full-year gross-margin outlook is approximately 56%. ASML has completed a new round of price negotiations with major customers. Financial effects from those negotiations are expected to begin appearing in 2027 and become more significant in 2028.
ASML's outlook is increasingly supported by demand extending beyond the current AI spending cycle. The next test is whether ASML can convert growing order visibility into additional production capacity and eventually higher sales. The higher sales floor signals greater confidence, but the investment case now hinges on how much demand ASML can meet.
