Odaily Planet Daily report: On Friday, Asian emerging market indices posted their largest single-day gain in over 17 years, driven by strong gains in South Korea and Taiwan, alongside easing concerns about artificial intelligence-related spending. The MSCI Emerging Markets Asia Index rose approximately 7%, while the Asian Emerging Markets Technology Index surged over 13%, both recording their biggest one-day gains since late October 2008. However, year-to-date this month, these two indices have still declined by 5% and 14%, respectively. Strong earnings reports and outlooks from Microsoft and Amazon last night helped alleviate market concerns regarding massive AI-related expenditures.
“We believe Microsoft’s outlook on continued growth in capital expenditures and expected positive free cash flow in fiscal year 2027 may help alleviate market concerns regarding AI infrastructure stocks,” wrote Nomura Securities analysts. (Jinshi)
