South Korea’s semiconductor giant SK Hynix rose over 9% at its peak, while Samsung Electronics climbed over 6%, driving the KOSPI index up more than 6% intraday. The Korea Exchange subsequently activated the Sidecar mechanism to suspend programmatic buying on the KOSPI.


Japan’s stock market rose in tandem, with the Nikkei 225 index climbing approximately 1.7%, led by semiconductor stocks. Kioxia surged over 8%, ROHM Semiconductor rose over 4%, and SoftBank Group gained over 3%.


Overnight, U.S. semiconductor stocks rose collectively, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index closing up 5.21%, as all 30 components gained. Intel and AMD rose over 8%, Arm climbed more than 7%, and TSMC’s ADR advanced over 5%. Memory stocks also performed strongly: SanDisk surged over 14%, SK Hynix’s ADR rose over 13%, and Micron Technology and Western Digital each gained over 12%.


Market analysis suggests that the AI capital expenditure cycle is not over, with strong continued demand for data center construction, computing power, storage, and network infrastructure. Recent improvements in Asian export data and price increases by companies such as TSMC have further strengthened market confidence in demand across the AI industry chain.
