The round was led by Vista Equity Partners, Cambium Capital, and Emergence Capital, with participation from M12 (a Microsoft subsidiary), AI10 Ventures, Hitachi, IAG, P7, and Wipro. Arcee has not disclosed the exact amount, but sources familiar with the matter say it is at least $150 million. Founded in 2023, Arcee initially focused on fine-tuning and optimizing existing models before shifting to building open-weight models from scratch. Its founder, Mark McQuade, was an early employee at Hugging Face. The funds will be used to develop new open-weight models and products, expand collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy, and partner with companies in Vista’s portfolio.
