According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple will release a new smart home hub on Tuesday called HomeView.
Over the past few years, there have been numerous reports suggesting Apple is developing a new smart home product, but now it appears the device has a name and a release date. Gurman says HomeView is a Siri-powered device equipped with a display and an A18 chip, allowing users to control other smart home devices.
According to reports, HomeView will be available in two models—one designed for countertop placement and another that can be wall-mounted.
This will be Apple's most serious bet yet in the smart home space, following limited market success for its HomeKit software framework and HomePod smart speaker.
Gurman also reported that Apple will release updated versions of two other home devices on Tuesday: the Apple TV set-top box and the HomePod mini. Earlier this week, he noted that Apple plans to collaborate with LG to launch smart locks, thermostats, and doorbells.
