Huo Xing Finance reports, according to The Information, Anthropic has secured at least 14.8 GW of computing power over the past 11 months, with capacity to be gradually deployed over the coming years. Based on currently public contracts, the potential total cost could reach as high as $517 billion, with the majority of expenditures expected to occur over the next decade. Including the 1–2 GW already locked in prior to October last year, Anthropic’s total committed computing capacity is approximately 16 GW. This expansion is primarily driven by demand for Claude. Growth in Claude Code and Cowork this year has exceeded Anthropic’s expectations, prompting the company to aggressively secure additional computing resources. Amazon’s new agreement provides up to 5 GW, while Google and Broadcom together contribute another 5 GW, and Microsoft and NVIDIA each provide up to approximately 1 GW. Anthropic has also leased all computing capacity from SpaceX’s Colossus 1, securing over 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs, including H100, H200, and GB200 models. Anthropic has now locked in approximately 16 GW of computing power, with many contracts extending beyond 2030. OpenAI has set a target for its investors of reaching 30 GW by 2030, with an estimated cumulative investment of around $750 billion in computing power by that time. The $517 billion figure from The Information represents the estimated maximum potential cost based on existing cloud services, chip, and data center contracts; some capacity may be delayed or unused, and certain contracts permit early termination.
