Anthropic reported a net loss of $80.75 billion for the first half of 2026, mainly because of non-cash accounting adjustments. A $72.39 billion charge reflected fair-value changes in convertible notes, derivative liabilities and simple agreements for future equity. The charge primarily reflected increases in Anthropic's valuation.

Anthropic narrowed the first-half operating loss to $693 million from $2.14 billion a year earlier. Anthropic reported adjusted operating income of $1.62 billion. Anthropic's adjusted operating margin was 10%. Social Capital's summary put Anthropic's second-quarter operating profit at $974 million on revenue of $11.6 billion.

Anthropic generated revenue of $16.29 billion in the first half of 2026, compared with $1.16 billion in the corresponding period a year earlier. Social Capital shared figures showing quarterly revenue rising roughly 31-fold over five quarters, from $376 million in early 2025 to $11.6 billion in the second quarter of 2026. Anthropic's annual sales totaled $41 million in 2023. Anthropic's annual sales reached $386 million in 2024. Anthropic's annual sales increased to $4.59 billion in 2025.

Anthropic spent approximately $2.51 on computing and infrastructure per $1 of revenue in the first quarter of 2025. Anthropic reduced that spending ratio to roughly 48 cents per $1 of revenue by the second quarter of 2026. However, Anthropic's computing and infrastructure expenses increased to $8.95 billion in the first half from $2.33 billion a year earlier.

Anthropic had approximately 20 customers with annual spending of at least $100,000 at the end of 2023. Anthropic had more than 11,900 customers meeting that spending threshold by September 2026. Social Capital noted that Fortune 500 customers allocated, on average, less than 0.1% of total expenses to Anthropic in the third quarter. Existing customers therefore have room to increase spending with Anthropic.

Consumption-based arrangements generated approximately 80% of Anthropic's revenue in the first half of 2026. Subscriptions generated the remaining revenue. Anthropic's five largest customers contributed about 36% of revenue in the first quarter. The share contributed by those customers declined to roughly 21% in the third quarter. However, each of those customers generated record revenue for Anthropic in the third quarter.

Social Capital CEO Chamath Palihapitiya called Anthropic an "amazing business" on X. Palihapitiya responded to a Social Capital post highlighting selected positive financial metrics from Anthropic's registration statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Rapid revenue growth and lower computing spending relative to sales help explain Palihapitiya's praise despite the net loss.

Anthropic held cash and cash equivalents totaling $112.4 billion as of June 30. Anthropic also held short-term investments of $19.3 billion on that date. Anthropic has applied to list Class A shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker ANT. Anthropic has not disclosed the offering's share count or price range.
