Anthropic Combines Claude Chat and Cowork into a Unified Interface

Dynamic AI News: Anthropic has merged Claude Chat and Cowork into a single interface. Going forward, you no longer need to choose between “Chat” or “Work”—just give your request to Claude, and it will automatically determine whether to answer a question or take on a complex task. All previous projects, Skills, Connectors, and context from Cowork are preserved. Interestingly, Cowork was originally created by Anthropic as a separate feature. When launched in January, it was positioned as “Claude Code for the rest of your work,” specifically designed for multi-step tasks like reports and documents. However, users found they still had to decide whether to send a task to Chat or Cowork, and work couldn’t easily continue across the two interfaces. Now, Anthropic has removed this layer of choice entirely. Claude has also added Docs and Slides, allowing you to directly generate and edit documents and presentations within the conversation. Claude Design has been integrated into the same interface. Once you assign a task to Claude, it can continue processing even if you turn off your computer—you can check progress on your mobile device. Anthropic initially pushed Claude toward becoming a productivity agent through Cowork; now, it’s hiding the agent model itself. Users no longer need to worry about whether they’re interacting with Chat, Cowork, Docs, or Slides—just tell Claude what you need.
