ChainCatcher report: On October 21, Anthropic launched the research preview of Claude Duet. This is a standalone app in which Claude acts as an active agent, prompting users to pay attention to important matters, completing assigned tasks, and continuing work even after the user steps away—always seeking confirmation before acting on the user’s behalf. Designed for professionals and small business owners, it is available via iOS and Android apps and at claude.ai, with access included in Pro and Max plans, sharing usage limits with other Claude features. Users must join a waitlist, with initial access rolling out first to U.S.-based Pro and Max subscribers. Claude Duet is built around Claude Opus 5.5. It delivers brief daily summaries across connected apps each morning, monitors those apps throughout the day, and sends notifications only when action is needed. It can handle tasks such as scheduling meetings, building dashboards, financial or sales forecasting, prototyping, and developing web applications. The app leverages memories, skills, and connected applications from the user’s existing Claude account, supports typing or voice input within a single continuous thread, and includes a virtual machine with a browser that does not require the user’s device to remain powered on. It integrates with over 6,000 connectors and plugins available in the Claude Marketplace, including examples such as Gmail, Slack, Intuit QuickBooks, Stripe, Gusto, LinkedIn, DocuSign, HubSpot, Canva, and Shopify. For enterprise purchases, payments can be processed via Stripe’s Link digital wallet or Shopify’s Shop Pay; support for logging into websites using saved credentials from 1Password—subject to user consent—is coming soon. In terms of security, the product employs a trusted agent framework:托管 agents do not directly access passwords or login tokens, and it includes automated mode classifiers and protections against prompt injection. Anthropic has conducted red teaming and external penetration testing and has incorporated findings into its public bug bounty program. Before sending messages, making payments, signing documents, or deleting content, users are shown a preview of the intended action and must approve it; trading securities or transferring funds between accounts remains prohibited even with approval. Early versions may misinterpret conversations or misjudge urgency; core functionality is focused on work-related tasks, with weaker support for personal activities like booking travel. The browser interface is not currently visible to users, and the app operates separately from the main Claude application; background checks count toward plan usage limits.
