Anthropic files for IPO, plans Nasdaq listing under 'ANT' as fear and greed index swings amid market volatility. The company filed for an initial public offering and plans to list its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker 'ANT'. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley lead the underwriting group. Anthropic reported $16.29 billion in revenue for the six months ended June 30, 2026, and a net loss of $80.7 billion, largely from a $72.4 billion charge on convertible notes. The firm has raised $141.1 billion as of June 30, 2026, with $112.4 billion in cash and equivalents. Altcoins to watch may shift focus as major tech plays enter public markets.

Anthropic, which develops the Claude family of AI models, announced on Monday that the company had filed for an initial public offering. Anthropic's public S-1 registration statement sets out plans to list Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under ANT. The offering's share count and price range remain undetermined. Anthropic and existing shareholders will both sell shares. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley lead the group of 24 underwriters.

The public registration follows a confidential draft that Anthropic submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission in June. Reuters reported last month that backers hoped for a valuation exceeding $2 trillion, among other details of the confidential draft. Anthropic raised $65 billion in May at a valuation of $965 billion.

Anthropic reported revenue of $16.29 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared with $1.16 billion in the corresponding year-earlier period. Anthropic reported full-year revenue of $4.59 billion for 2025. Anthropic's revenue was $386 million in 2024. Anthropic's revenue was $41 million in 2023.

Anthropic recorded a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first half of 2026. A $72.4 billion charge for fair-value changes in convertible notes and other instruments accounted for most of that loss. The filing attributes the charge principally to an increase in Anthropic's valuation. Anthropic's operating loss for the period totaled $693 million.

The filing says Anthropic had raised a cumulative $141.1 billion by June 30, 2026. The filing lists $112.4 billion in cash and cash equivalents at that date. The filing also lists short-term investments of $19.3 billion. As of September 30, Anthropic had more than 1,900 customers generating at least $1 million in revenue during the preceding 12 months. About 250 customers generated at least $10 million over that period.

Anthropic's incorporation as a public benefit corporation requires directors to balance shareholders' financial interests against the interests of those affected by Anthropic's conduct. Directors must also consider Anthropic's stated purpose of responsibly developing and maintaining advanced AI for humanity's long-term benefit. Under the proposed structure, the Long-Term Benefit Trust will use a special stock class to elect most board members. The trust consists of five trustees without a financial interest.

Anthropic will issue one Class F share immediately before the offering to an entity owned by Anthropic's seven co-founders. The Class F share will carry 50.1% of voting power on most shareholder matters. The filing says this arrangement qualifies Anthropic as a "controlled company" under Nasdaq rules. Each Class A share will carry one vote. The filing warns that Class A shareholders may effectively lose the ability to influence major decisions, including a change in control.

Anthropic has contributed about 847 million non-voting shares to a wholly owned subsidiary devoted to Anthropic's public benefit purpose. The contribution represents 5% of fully diluted shares as of June 30. The filing says each co-founder has pledged to donate 80% of the co-founder's personal equity in Anthropic to philanthropic causes. Anthropic announced the fund earlier this month. Investor and former White House AI czar David Sacks criticized the fund, saying, "Whether it serves the public good remains to be seen."
