When you open Claude, you'll likely see this pop-up notification.

That's right, Fable 5 has been extended again.

Today was supposed to be the day the Fable 5 model disappeared from the Claude subscription plan.

Just revived from export controls on July 1, it’s now being removed from subscriptions on July 7—if you want to keep using it, you’ll need to pay per usage for the API.

On the result deadline day, Anthropic officially announced that the Fable 5 event has been postponed to July 12.

On the same day, the Claude Cowork mobile and web apps officially launched. Even when your computer is turned off, Claude can still keep working for you.

Fable 5 has been delayed, which was originally good news. But netizens completely aren't buying it.

Over the July 4th weekend, a large number of Claude paying users raced against the July 7th deadline, pushing themselves to the limit—maxing out their Fable 5 credits for the week, some staying up all night, others skipping outings.

Then, on the deadline day, it was extended.

So the comments section of Anthropic’s post looked like this: Someone directly lashed out, “Have you ever considered that countless people spent money they shouldn’t have and ruined their health trying to meet a deadline, only to be told at the last minute that it’s been extended?”

Many people spent the entire long weekend in front of their computers to meet this deadline, without spending time with their families.

I’m still trying to use up this week’s quota.

Notified the night before the deadline—this isn’t a promotion, it’s a joke.

Anthropic has truly mastered the art of scarcity marketing.

The usage rules remain unchanged. Up to 50% of your weekly subscription quota can be used on Fable 5; once exhausted, you must either switch to pay-as-you-go to continue or revert to another model. This applies to Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise.

Claude Cowork now supports mobile apps and web.

Cowork is an AI assistant launched by Anthropic in January this year, described as the everyday worker’s version of Claude Code. When you assign it a task, it independently searches through files, checks emails, and browses the web to complete the entire job from start to finish. It has been fully available to all paid Claude users since April.

However, Claude Cowork previously had a major limitation: it could only be used on a computer. Closing the laptop would interrupt the task.

Starting today, this restriction is removed.

Start a task on your computer and step out. Claude continues running in the background. Pull out your phone to check progress, realize the direction is off, and adjust directly on your phone. By the time you get home, the draft is already waiting for you.

You can also set up scheduled tasks. For example, you can have Claude automatically organize last week’s client emails and industry news every Monday at 6 a.m., draft a summary report, and prepare follow-up emails—without sending them. All you need to do is review them after you wake up.

Key point: When Claude encounters a decision that requires your approval, it will pause and send the issue to your phone. You can reply with a quick message on the go, and once it receives your instruction, it continues working.

Supported on iOS and Android—just open Cowork from the sidebar in the Claude app. A web version is now also available, so those who couldn’t install the desktop client can now use it. This new feature is currently in Beta and initially available to Claude Max users, with gradual rollout over the next few weeks.

Anthropic has released usage data for Claude Cowork.

Less than 9% of the 1.2 million anonymous usage records involved coding.

Product operations and content creation are the most frequently used tasks, accounting for nearly half combined. Other responsibilities include reconciling accounts, writing reports, reviewing contracts to identify risks, and generating client proposals from call records and sales data.

OpenAI’s previously released Codex data showed the same trend: non-technical users grew faster than programmers.

By the way, the doubled limit for Claude Cowork has been extended to August 5th. Note that the limit doubles every 5 hours, but the weekly limit remains unchanged.

Fable 5 has 5 days left—make the most of it.
