Anthropic announced on Tuesday an expansion of its Claude Startups program, the latest move by the AI lab to deepen its connections with founders and high-growth companies.
Claude Startups was initially launched in May. According to Anthropic, thousands of companies have already joined. The company is opening this program to more organizations, with members receiving thousands of dollars' worth of Anthropic Claude products and credits to assist with their development.
Anthropic stated in a statement: “We created this program because we believe that the benefits of artificial intelligence will be delivered to most people primarily through companies building products on top of models, rather than through the models alone. This makes close collaboration with founders and developers central to our mission.”
The vast majority of Anthropic’s revenue comes from enterprise customers. Over the past year, the company has been working to fend off competitors like OpenAI and Google, both of which have also launched initiatives targeting startups. As the market widely anticipates an upcoming major IPO, Anthropic is striving to ensure that the next generation of companies will use its products to build.
Claude Startup members can receive up to $45,000 in discounts and credits through the Claude Startup Stack. Anthropic describes this as “a set of benefits for the tools startups rely on to operate.” Additionally, eligible organizations receive a one-time $1,000 API credit and one year of free Claude Team for up to five premium seats.
Anthropic also stated that members can interact with the company’s application AI team during online office hours and connect with other members of the Claude Startup community at events.
Anthropic states that startups that have been in operation for less than five years or have received funding within the past two years are eligible to apply.
