According to ChainCatcher, Anchorpoint, a joint venture established by Standard Chartered, Animoca Brands, and others, stated it will proceed cautiously with retail-focused products and has not confirmed a specific launch date. Dominic Maffei, CEO of Anchorpoint, declined to reaffirm the earlier timeline of “retail opening as early as late 2026” during a press conference on Friday, emphasizing that the company is adopting a cautious strategy. He stated that building the market should be done in a long-term, sustainable manner, and rushing the launch would be unreasonable. Anchorpoint launched its institutional-grade stablecoin product in August 2026. This announcement comes as HSBC rolled out its RedCoin港元稳定币 to 3.3 million users of its PayMe app on Friday. Anchorpoint originated from a collaboration between Standard Chartered, Animoca Brands, and telecom operator HKT, which was announced in February 2025. The three parties previously participated together in Hong Kong’s stablecoin issuer sandbox in July 2024. Animoca provides blockchain expertise and industry networks to the joint venture and drives the stablecoin’s adoption within the Web3 ecosystem.
