AMD forecasts a $2 trillion AI market by 2030, with data center revenue reaching $70 billion in 2027. AI GPUs are expected to account for $40 billion of that total, with server CPUs making up the remainder. The company now projects the server CPU market to grow to $220 billion by 2030, up from $60 billion. Altcoins to watch may benefit from this growth, particularly amid shifting inflation data.

ChainCatcher reports that on September 8, 2026, at the Citi 2026 Global TMT Conference, AMD stated that AI-related opportunities could reach $2 trillion by 2030. The company expects its data center business to double by 2027, reaching approximately $70 billion in revenue, with AI GPUs contributing around $40 billion and the remainder coming from server CPUs. The server CPU market size is now projected to reach $220 billion by 2030, up from a previous estimate of $60 billion. AMD has secured purchase commitments of $29 billion to $30 billion and received the largest capacity allocation increase among all TSMC customers, yet still faces tight supply of wafers, HBM memory, advanced packaging, and substrates. The MI450 is scheduled to begin volume shipments in the third quarter of 2026, with further ramp-up in the fourth quarter. Gross margin guidance for the third quarter is 56%, due to MI450 ramp-up; gross margins are expected to decline slightly in the fourth quarter of 2026 and into 2027. CFO Jean Hu noted that the speed, scale, and rise of AI are unprecedented. AMD has announced three major anchor customers—Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic—all involving multi-gigawatt deployments and multi-generation collaborations. Helios is scaling at the rack level. AMD has completed its acquisition of Taalas and is collaborating with Cerebras to integrate the Helios system with its wafer-level engine technology. Server CPU revenue is expected to grow more than 80% year-over-year in the second half of 2026 and over 70% entering 2027. Enterprise server revenue grew more than 70% in the second quarter of 2026.
