AMD Announces Acquisition of AI Inference Chip Company Taalas

AMD announced the acquisition of AI inference chip company Taalas, a move aligned with the latest trends in AI and crypto news. Headquartered in Toronto and founded in 2023, Taalas specializes in optimizing inference data flow to reduce bottlenecks in general-purpose architectures. AMD plans to integrate Taalas’ technology into its AI platform, including Helios, Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs, and the ROCm software stack. Vamsi Boppana, Senior Vice President of AMD’s AI Group, stated that the acquisition will enhance inference performance. Taalas CEO Ljubisa Bajic noted that AMD’s scale will accelerate innovation. The deal follows growing concerns over inflation data and rising demand for AI infrastructure.
