Alibaba recently announced a project update in the AI + crypto news space with the launch of Qwen3.8-Max, a new AI model featuring 2.4 trillion parameters. Internal tests show it can independently complete a 16-day software project. The model employs optimized parameter activation to reduce computation costs and latency, outperforming Kimi K3 in certain benchmarks and approaching Anthropic’s performance. Alibaba plans to release weight downloads for Qwen3.8-Max and Qwen3.8-27B next week.

Odaily Planet Daily reports: Alibaba has released its latest flagship model, Qwen3.8-Max, which features 2.4 trillion parameters. The company states that the model performs close to globally leading AI models such as Anthropic on certain benchmarks and surpasses recently released Chinese models like Kimi K3.

Ali stated that Qwen3.8-Max has improved capabilities in automated programming and long-duration task execution, and in internal tests, it can independently complete software engineering projects lasting up to 16 days. The model employs parameter activation optimization technology, activating only a subset of parameters during operation to reduce computational cost and latency.

Alibaba plans to open the download of Qwen3.8-Max weights next week, along with the Qwen3.8-27B weights. (Bloomberg)
