Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing (ASM) announced a RMB 6.5 billion (approximately USD 968 million) private placement to expand AI chip packaging capacity. The funds will be directed toward high-density system-level and wafer-level packaging, driven by strong demand from clients such as NVIDIA and AMD. ASM noted that current capacity is nearly at maximum due to rising requirements for bandwidth and thermal management in AI chips. The plan is subject to shareholder and regulatory approval. Risk-on assets continue to attract capital as liquidity and crypto markets show signs of stabilization.

ChainCatcher report: On September 7, China’s leading semiconductor testing and packaging company, JCET, announced plans to raise no more than RMB 6.5 billion (approximately USD 968 million) through a non-public offering of shares to expand advanced packaging capacity for AI chips and support related R&D initiatives. The funds will primarily be allocated to building production lines focused on high-density system-in-package and wafer-level packaging technologies to meet growing order demands from clients such as NVIDIA and AMD. JCET stated that AI chips place significantly higher demands on packaging bandwidth and thermal management, and current production capacity is nearing full utilization. The fundraising plan is still subject to approval by the company’s shareholders and regulatory authorities.
