Odaily Planet Daily report: On July 22, South Korean polling agency Realmeter surveyed 504 adults aged 18 and older nationwide, revealing that the South Korean public holds a notably negative attitude toward the launch of single-stock leveraged ETFs. The survey found that 63.7% of respondents considered the introduction of single-stock leveraged ETFs a “wrong decision,” with 41.2% deeming it “very wrong” and 22.5% considering it “generally wrong.” In contrast, only 19.0% believed the decision was correct, while 17.4% stated they were “uncertain.”
Regarding the supplementary measures announced on the 16th by South Korea’s financial regulators on single-stock leveraged ETFs, 59.2% of respondents felt they were “insufficient.” Among further improvements, the most supported measure was “limiting the number of daily trades,” with 24.1% support, followed by “significantly increasing initial margin requirements” (22.2%), “significantly raising minimum trade size requirements” (21.5%), and “expanding mandatory investor education time” (10.6%).
