224 encrypted hacker incidents in the first half of 2026 result in $1.32 billion in losses

Huoxing Finance reports that Onchain Lens posted on X that, in the first half of 2026, 224 publicly disclosed crypto hacks resulted in approximately $1.32 billion in losses. The largest losses stemmed from access control failures, phishing attacks, and oracle issues. In terms of attack types, access control failures—involving compromised permissions and privileged access—drove multiple of the largest incidents, including $292 million lost by Kelp DAO, $280 million by Drift Protocol, $31 million by Humanity Protocol, $30 million by Step Finance, $26.5 million by Truebit, $25 million by Resolv Labs, $24.15 million by AFX, and $21 million by BonkDAO. Regarding phishing and social engineering attacks, social engineering caused $282 million in losses. For oracle-related issues, losses included $24 million from Ostium, $10.86 million from Blend Protocol, and $9 million from Bonzo. A small number of incidents accounted for the majority of losses, with compromised permissions and privileged access driving many of the largest attacks.
