According to ME News, as of August 4 (UTC+8), all 2027 annual capacity for DRAM and HBM has been sold out in advance. While NAND flash supply is not as tight as DRAM, its 2027 capacity bookings are also expected to be fully completed by the end of this month. Industry insiders report that some companies have not publicly acknowledged the need to secure storage supply this month, fearing that increased competition from additional manufacturers could further reduce their allocated quotas. Currently, memory manufacturers typically deliver only 60% to 70% of the initial quantities requested by customers, prioritizing cloud service providers and major AI companies. As a result, smartphone and PC manufacturers are expected to receive significantly less DRAM in 2027 compared to 2026. DigiTimes notes that companies yet to finalize their procurement volumes may face an even more severe “want to buy but can’t get it” situation next year, given that nearly all capacity has been sold. The report also states that elevated memory prices are likely to become the new norm. Although price increases in 2027 may moderate as competition for capacity eases, the overall supply gap and the cost pressures borne by end-product industries will remain difficult to alleviate in the short term. 2027 DRAM and HBM capacity fully booked, NAND flash to follow
KuCoinFlashShare
MetaEra reports that 2027 DRAM and HBM capacity is fully booked, with NAND flash expected to follow by month’s end. Some companies avoid confirming capacity needs due to pressures from the Fear and Greed Index. Memory suppliers are currently fulfilling 60%–70% of orders, prioritizing cloud and AI clients. Smartphone and PC manufacturers may face tighter access to DRAM in 2027. DigiTimes warns that unconfirmed buyers could encounter even worse shortages next year. High memory prices are expected to persist, with 2027 increases likely milder than previous spikes. Altcoins to watch may react to ongoing cost pressures in the technology sector.
