PiScan Launches Pi Network Explorer While Users Await Protocol v27. PiScan is a new third-party Pi Network explorer providing Mainnet data, while its smart contract scanner awaits future protocol developments. A new third-party blockchain explorer named PiScan is attracting attention from Pi Network users by offering a way to monitor network activity through its Mainnet API. The application, available at https://t.co/cUp11yRYC8, describes itself as a read-only explorer for the Pi Network ledger. It provides access to information including recent ledgers, transactions, account activity, and network statistics. The project was highlighted by X account @fanlujun2247, encouraging Pi Network users to explore the platform and discover ongoing network activity. However, one of the most closely watched features remains unavailable. PiScan states that its smart contract explorer functionality will be introduced after a successful upgrade to Protocol v27 on the Pi Mainnet. PiScan connects to Pi Network Mainnet data. According to its website, PiScan reads information directly from the Pi Network Mainnet API and indexes blockchain data for exploration. The platform provides various types of information, including the latest ledgers, transactions, and account activity. Its developer API also includes endpoints to retrieve ledgers, transactions, account balances, and individual network statistics. This type of infrastructure can make blockchain data verification easier without requiring users to interact directly with underlying APIs. For technically savvy developers and Pi Network users, the explorer can also offer a more convenient way to inspect transaction activity and network status. PiScan states that its data is locally indexed and its API allows only read access, meaning this service is designed to view blockchain information—not to directly modify records on Mainnet. Smart contract scanner functionality is still unavailable. The most significant current limitation of PiScan relates to smart contracts. The smart contract section currently reports that the contract layer has not been deployed and no contract endpoints or contract call activity have been detected during direct Mainnet scanning. The page identifies the network as running Protocol 26 and describes the underlying system as a fork of Stellar Core. PiScan says it will continue monitoring the network and will list contract calls if a contract layer becomes available. This makes the planned smart contract feature particularly relevant for users following Pi Network’s protocol development. The project’s community announcement states that smart contract exploration will be launched after a successful upgrade to Protocol v27 on Mainnet. However, this statement should be viewed as a roadmap or expectation of the project rather than confirmation that Protocol v27 has been activated. What users can explore today Even without smart contract functionality, PiScan still provides several types of blockchain information. The current website interface displays recent ledger activity, transaction records, and network statistics. Users can examine individual transactions and view addresses associated with recent activity. Its developer API extends these capabilities by providing endpoints for recent ledgers, individual ledger chains, transactions, transaction hashes, account addresses, and network statistics. For developers building analytical tools based on Pi Network data, having structured API endpoints can make programmatic retrieval of blockchain information easier. The service states that API endpoints are being deployed and that API key provision and per-key request rate limits will be implemented in a later phase. PiScan has no affiliation with Pi Network. An important detail users should note when considering using this platform is the project’s own disclaimer. PiScan explicitly states it is not affiliated with Pi Network or the Pi Core Team. This distinction is crucial because third-party blockchain explorers can display network data without being operated by the blockchain’s core development organization. Therefore, users should differentiate between data displayed by PiScan and official announcements or documentation published by Pi Network. The same principle applies to claims about future functionality. The planned smart contract explorer may depend on developments within the Pi Network protocol, but the availability and launch timing of that feature must be independently confirmed. Why Protocol v27 matters to this project The connection between PiScan’s planned smart contract scanner and Protocol v27 gives greater significance to the upcoming protocol upgrade. If the necessary smart contract infrastructure is enabled after the Mainnet protocol upgrade, PiScan could expand its scope beyond monitoring basic ledgers and transactions. This could provide users with an additional tool to inspect on-chain programming activity if and when that functionality is activated. However, PiScan’s direct scanner currently shows that the Mainnet does not yet provide the necessary contract functionality for this feature. Therefore, this development reflects an ongoing process rather than confirmation of an effectively functioning Pi Network smart contract ecosystem. By Victoria Hale
